Old Eyeglasses Give New Life to Millions! The World Health Organization estimates that 153 million people throughout the world have vision problems that could be corrected with used – yet usable – eyeglasses. The lack of eyeglasses denies children and adults the opportunity for education, employment and a better quality of life. Lions throughout the world have been collecting and recycling eyeglasses for about 80 years. We collect approximately 30 million pairs of used eyeglasses each year. The eyeglasses are tested and shipped throughout the world.
