Lions Youth Day at UNICEF

Lions' Youth Day with UNICEF will be held on the 2nd Friday in March 2010 at UNICEF House in New York City.

The event, for young people who are under age 18 and sponsored by a Lions club, will occur concurrent to the Annual Lions Day with the UN program at United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

Young people can gather at 9 a.m. at the globe sculpture inside the gates of the UN Headquarters compound on First Avenue at 46th Street in New York City. The Lions International President will greet the young people before Lions escort the group across the street to UNICEF House.

Once inside the UNICEF House conference room, the young people will learn about the Model UN Program – and then they will participate in a session about a relative issue as a delegate representing one of the UN nations.

After Lunch, all UNICEF programs will be profiled including the School-in-a-Box program.  Additionally, all Lions youth programs such as the Lions International Youth Camps and Youth Exchange Programs; Leo Club Program; and the Lions International Peace Poster Contest will be profiles.

At the end of the day, about 3:30PM, Lions will escort Lions' Youth Day with UNICEF attendees back to UN Headquarters to be reunited with their Lions group where a tour of the UN can be scheduled.

Attendance is limited to the first 200 registrants.  Lion Clubs that would like to sponsor youth participants should contact Lions Clubs International; Program Development Department; 300 W. 22nd Street; Oak Brook; Il 60523-8842  (630) 468-6728 or programs@lionsclubs.org to receive applications.

The estimated cost of the program excluding transportation is $60.00 per participant.  A box Lunch is provided.
