Peace Poster Contest

Celebrate Peace is the theme of the Peace Poster Contest.  Students, ages 11, 12 or 13 on November 15, are eligible to participate. Through the contest, students are encouraged to visually depict their interpretation of the contest's theme.

Each poster is judged on originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme.  Posters advance through several judging levels: local, district, multiple district and international. At the international level, judges from the art, peace, youth, education and media communities select one grand prize winner and 23 merit award winners

One international grand prize winner will receive a trip to a special award ceremony with the sponsoring club president and two family members at Lions Day with the United Nations in New York City, New York, USA (subject to change). There the winning artist will be presented with an engraved plaque and a cash prize of US $2,500.  Each of the 23 merit award winners will receive a cash award of $500 and a certificate of achievement.

The Pound Ridge Lions Club is coordinating this competition for the Zone 5 which includes, Bedford Village, Bedford Hills, Mount Kisco and Pound Ridge.  Information has gone to Fox Lane Middle School, Harvey School, and St. Patrick’s School.  Additionally, local newspapers will provide articles on the competition so that all potential artists can participate.

All completed posters must be in the possession of the Pound Ridge Lions Club Project Coordinator by October 23rd .  By November 10th each Community Lion Club will select one poster to forward to District Governor who in turn selects one poster and sends it to the Multiple District Council Chairman who in turn sends one poster to the International Headquarters.  International winners will be notified prior to February .
